I'm a Fan of the LTX Trail - 40K follow-up

Thought I'd give a 40K update to my previous review. The LTX trails that were OEM on my 24 Land Cruiser are still going strong! They are wearing evenly and no leaks, pressure loss, or balancing adjustments. Kind of boring (in a good way). I measured incorrectly on previous review but as of now, showing 6/32 remaining out of 10/32 when new. I'm not sure why they get such bad reviews, but my experience has been excellent. I intended to replace them with Continental TC AT's but Michelin is giving a strong case to stick with these. Hope that helps someone.

Severe durability issue

1,000 miles in on a 2026 Tundra TRD with these tires. Driving on the highway, did not see any debris in traffic, don't recall hitting anything. Never even on a dirt road YET. Had a slash in the side wall. I was on the high way when the TPS light came on. Happened to be driving by my dealership. They found the issue and I have to buy a new tire (no road hazard). After reading posts from other drivers, i decided to post a review as well. Too early to tell re wear life. I will say the tires handle the pavement great. But I will be driving dirt roads (which i do a lot) very cautiously until I switch these to the Defender LTX M/S2 as another reviewer called out. It's unfortunate Toyota picked this tire for their TRD Offroad package.

Replace these with Defender LTX MS/2

Michelin, cancel these tires! - not a tire that should have Michelin name on them. I just replaced OEM set after 35K miles on my 2024 Land Cruiser with far superior Defender LTX MS/2 tires. Much better driving stability and performance with the MS/2. Note, gas mileage will drop some because the MS/2 is a heavier XL rated tire with more aggressive tread pattern. The LTX trails seem to be a cheater tire - weaker and lighter than they should be to get improved gas milage. Looks like it should do more than it does in reality. Definitely not a real trail tire... Heck the MS/2s do better on trail and they are not an AT tire. The LTX trail is a pretender. I am a huge fan of Michelin. Seems they created this tire for Toyota. I am not aware of any other OEM using them? Please Michelin... focus your attention on the next successor to the PS 4S... that is what we all need. It is time for update your max summer tire rather than this.

Did I make the right call?

I enjoy them so far, but I have only had them for a week. I was wondering why I saw so many on marketplace. I went with them because I've always trusted Michelin, did I make a mistake?

Does Michelin also have official factories in Thailand? Is the quality the same as those from the original country?

Must be VERY soft compound and very suspect to road debris flats.

I have never owned a set of tires that were penetrated by road debris as easy as these. There is ZERO chance I would run these tires off road. Three blow out flats in the first 10,000 miles.

Works great for my 2017 Nissan Titan.

I am really glad that I bought the tires when I did. These tires have been great on the highway and on City streets. We got our annual ice and snow storm here in Memphis they proved to be very reliable. Went on the ice like anything else you're going to get a little slippage, however these tires did very well even on the ice. I am very proud of the tires and I'm very happy of the decision I made to purchase them. For me they drive very comfortably and without very much noise at all. As far as fuel efficiency they do pretty well. I give them a five out of 5 stars and will purchase again in the future.

Great tire on highway in summer no noise in the winter they are atrocious on ice get stuck on flat ground horrible for stopping in winter they are an accident waiting to happen!!!!!!!!

Quite smooth ride

He's LTX tires came on my new Toyota 4Runner TRD off road. I have 1500 miles on these tires and the majority have been highway, Street driving, and a few cow Trails basically unpaved roads. Have not gone over rocks or anything that potentially could damage the tire. For quietness and fuel economy and just general local potholes and rough roads these tires have been very good. And I am a tire guy so I understand that as tires where they get harder and rougher riding so I typically don't keep tires more than about 45k miles. These tires are rated at 50 so they might be replaced at 35 to 40K. But that's just me because I like fresh rubber.

Follow-up from previous review. At 21K on the mileage, I'm still a big fan of the LTX Trail. I measured wear at 6/32" (10/32" new) so I'm assuming these will get about 40K? Perhaps they wear faster than advertised however, I'll take the trade-off for exceptional highway ride and rock solid trail performance I'm experiencing. I believe these are better than Defenders BOTH highway and trail performance (bold statement), but you do sacrifice on longevity. Everybody's needs are different but for me, that use case works.
