Review Summary

These tires provide exceptional grip and performance on the track, with strong acceleration, cornering, and stability. However, they have a very short tread life, are easily damaged, and do not perform well in wet or cold weather conditions. They are best suited for dedicated track use rather than everyday street driving.

Great handling

I replaced my tires on my car that were passed there age limit and I was very impressed with the way the new tires handled and stuck to the road

Michelin pilot sport cup 2

I have a Corvette C-7 Z-06. I bought the Michelin pilot sport cup tires for track day. They did hold the track very well. My problem is, I wore them out in one day. That's a little to expensive for me.

Cup2s working great for my 1000+hp ZR1

So far these cup2 tires have been amazing, way better then the cup1s! The original tires that came on my 2013 ZR1 were cup1 tires. I was not a fan of them and actually took them off to put on Michelin pilot sports. I honestly liked the pilot sports over the cup1s but after modifying the car the pilot sorts were worthless. I was literally spinning the tires from a 70mph 3rd gear roll and even into 4th. It became very scary trying to harness 900+ rwhp/rwtq. With the cup 2s I’m able to dead hook my ZR1 from a 2nd gear roll at 30mph on the street. Pretty amazed what threse tires can do when warmed up. I highly recommend them.

Excellent high speed performance but only in dry

This is tire is standard on new Corvette Grand Sports. Their performance is exception BUT ONLY in dry conditions. When the pavement gets wet these tire can be treacherous. They are very prone to hydroplaning and their adhesion suffers greatly. Another thing, these tires are very prone to punctures which tire repair facilities are increasing incapable of or reluctant to fix.

Expensive - but worth it?

I've been running these for just a couple of weeks now on my CTS-V wagon. It's a big, heavy car and makes about 800hp at the tires. Some guys run drag radials to put the power down, but I needed a better all-around tire. These are a good step up from the Super Sports. Quiet, grippy, the ride quality is amazing. Wear / tread life TBD. But these hold at WOT in 2nd gear - something no other tire has been able to do. Super Sports wold spin in 4th gear sometimes. The handling feel is great too. I've had several rain days and wet grip is way better than expected - haven't tried deeper water but wet roads handle just fine.

PSS vs Pilot Sport Cup 2

PSS is a very good tire... for normal roads. On the track, only the Sport Cup 2 is the right tire. I am driving a Corvette ZR1 but my friends are on Porsche and Ferrari. No one is driving with PSS on the track. They all have Sport Cup 2 tires or even slicks. And we are good but only gentleman drivers !... Even a very good sport tire (like the PSS) is definitely not made for the track.

The Grip To Rip!

I have a modified Porsche Cayman S that'll put over 500 to the rears, so I went widebody adding RSR-like rear flares and Cup Car LCA's all-around. The car needed grip, and it got it. In the form of the new Sport Cup 2's. I removed the Super Sports, which are an amazing tire. As good as a performer as the Super Sports are, the Sport Cup 2's are that much better. It's like the difference between running a stadium track in a top-of-class pair of running shoes and then slipping on a pair of world-class Olympic caliber track shoes and taking another lap.
