Bicycle Tire Warranty

Your Michelin bicycle tires are covered by a manufacturer’s limited warranty that covers certain defects in workmanship and materials. To ensure your understanding of and compliance with the terms and conditions of this warranty, please read it carefully. This warranty covers the original purchaser of Michelin bicycle tires. 

DEFINITIONS

The expected service life of bicycle tires is two (2) years from the date of purchase. If proof of purchase is unavailable, the warranty period is calculated from the date of manufacture. The purchase date must be documented by a tire sales invoice.

WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG

Bicycle tires used in normal service on the bicycle that are within the conditions set forth in the table below. Replacement will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions described under “How Replacement Charges are Calculated.”

Michelin Warranty Guidelines:

WHAT IS NOT COVERED

Tires that become unserviceable due to:

•  Road and trail hazard related damages caused by general usage including, but not limited to, puncture, cut, impact break, bruise, bulge, snag, stone drill.

• Incorrect mounting or dismounting of the tires /wheel imbalance or repair.

• Improper use or operation, including, but not limited to, improper inflation pressure, overload, use of an improper rim, bicycle misalignment, improper brake adjustment, worn suspension components, misuse, misapplication, negligence, accident or vandalism, chemical contamination, fire or other externally generated heat, water or other material entrapped inside the tire during mounting, tire alteration.

• Flat spotting caused by improper storage or brake lock.

• Continued use while run flat or severely under inflated.

• Tires used on bicycle fitted with a trailer.

• Conditions caused by improper storage.

Also, claims for the following are not covered.

•  Tires that have been modified in any fashion. No tire will be considered for warranty adjustment for any reason after 2 years from the date of purchase. If no proof of purchase is available, the date of manufacture, as printed on the tires, will be used.

HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED

A replacement tire will be given if warranty condition(s) as defined above are met.

Costs associated for the following claims are not covered: mounting, balancing, wheel removal and installation (unless otherwise specified) following prorated replacement or repairs of tires or tubes, and applicable federal, state and local taxes, postage / freight

WHAT THE CONSUMER MUST DO WHEN MAKING A CLAIM

When making a claim under the terms of this limited warranty, you must present your tires(s) and the proof of purchase to an authorized participating Michelin Bicycle retailer or directly submit a warranty claim here.

STORAGE GUIDANCE

All Michelin bicycle tires must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light.

The performance of a tire will diminish over time. Foldable bead tires should be stored folded in the same way they were folded in their original packaging.

Never fold tires with ridged, wire beads. 

If storing Tubeless ready tires over a long period of time, we advise the complete removal of any sealant to avoid any coagulation inside the tire. When you store your bicycle, the tires will naturally lose pressure. Make sure that the tires are not flat. If possible, hang the bicycle to limit the tire deformation.

HOW LONG CAN YOU KEEP TIRES?

You should not make a direct correlation between the service life of a tire and its actual aging.

The service life of a tire depends solely on the conditions under which it has been stored and how it has been used.

For example, a new tire that has been parked or stored outdoors may show an irreversible sidewall. damage (cracking), which will affect its performance and ability to retain its pressure over it’s usable lifetime

READING THE DATE CODE

The “DOT” symbol certifies tire manufacturer’s compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation tire safety standards. Next to the symbol is the tire identification or “serial number.” The first two characters identify the plant where the tire was manufactured. The next two characters reflect the tire size. The following one to four digits may be used at the tire manufacturer’s option as a descriptive code. The last four characters are numbers identifying the week and year of manufacture (Example: “0201” signifies the second week of 2001).

The date code marked on the tire certifies the manufacturing date of the product. There are two instances in which a date code may be marked on a tire:

1.        Printed inside the tire

2.        Molded on the outside of the tire

In both instances, the first four numerical digits are the year, followed by two numerical digits which signify the week number produced. For example, a tire marked “202620” was produced in the 20^th week in the year 2026.

If unable to read the date code, consult a qualified tire technician at an authorized retailer to determine the year of manufacture.

CONDITIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

This limited warranty does not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of bicycle, inconvenience or consequential damage. Some states or provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Tires presented for claim remain the property of the consumer and Michelin accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to tires that are in the custody or control of a Michelin® tire retailer for the purpose of inspection for warranty adjustment. Tires accepted for claim become the property of Michelin North America, Inc.

In the event of a disputed claim, the consumer must make the tire available for further inspection.

No Michelin representative, employee or retailer has the authority to make or imply any representation, promise or agreement, which in any way varies the terms of this warranty.

These limited warranties apply only in United States of America and Canada.

CONSUMER RIGHTS

This warranty will not undermine any of the user’s rights or privileges that are accorded under United States of America and Canadian law or regulations concerning the rights of consumers.
