Great tires in great weather only

By Bert

from Canada

Comments about LTX M/S2:

I removed my Latitude X ice winters and put my summer Michelin LTX - M/S2 - LT tires and rims on too early this spring, BIG mistake. The winter Latitudes are perfect on ice & snow, beautiful.
The LTX - MS2 being reviewed here are frightening in winter conditions. These otherwise fantastic tires ( strong - comfy - quiet - long lasting ) should never be confused with an all season or winter tire! They loose traction instantly with the slightest hint of frost, ice, snow and slush. I have frightened my self several times and am anxious to share this reminder to others......Stick with a dedicated winter tire like the Latitude X ice in winter. The LTX - MS2 is nasty when the temperature drops but wonderful when the sun shines. Stay safe. Bob

Wear is not good

By via da Bronx

Comments about LTX M/S2:

I bought a set of the LTX tires and at 30K I was told that they are at their end. Did rotation & balancing. Buy new tires again?! Not these! Very disappointed with Michelin.

Just ordered a second set

By Pleasureway

from Canada

Comments about LTX M/S2:

Installed a set on a FordE350/Pleasureway Van Motorhome on June 29/2010. Impressed with the smooth quiet ride, winter traction and tread wear. They still have 8/32 tread from the original 13/32 and have gone 60,000km. No flats or problems. They are showing some fine sidewall cracking now approaching six years on the vehicle. Just ordered a new set as I don't want to risk a blowout on this tall heavy vehicle.

 • This three-digit number represents the width of the tire in millimeters (mm), measured from sidewall to sidewall. Since this measure is affected by the width of the rim, the measurement is done when the tire is on its intended rim size.

 • The aspect ratio is the relationship of a tire's sidewall height to its section width, expressed as a percentage. In this example, the tire sidewall height is approximately 55% of the tire width.
